Student Papers

Last year's conference featured panels on diverse areas in criminology, law, and socio-legal studies, including policing, criminal justice, family and sexual violence, social media, and state crime. For a full list of abstracts, see the program below.

Keynote Address

Developing a Research Project: Two Case Studies

Professor Mark Halsey, Flinders University
Professor Andrew Goldsmith, Flinders University
Dr Andrew Groves

The keynote presentation highlighted the design issues associated with two of the presenter's recent studies. The first focused on background work for their recently completed book on correctional corruption (which stemmed from strategic-applied work for the Western Australian Corruption and Crime Commission), and the second highlighted some of the design and (ongoing) fieldwork challenges of their ARC funded study of gun violence.

Professional Development Panel

Dr Kate Fitz-gibbon, Dr Nicola Henry, and Dr Wendy O’Brien each gave empowering and informative talks on achieving success as early-career researchers.
